These are large bales of Lucerne commonly used in large commercial flocks to prevent boredom but just as suited to back garden chickens - (please note - they are a different product to our Alfalfa & Grain blocks). We put them in our chicken barns or in a dry area of the run, and the hens enjoy pecking at them - cut and release a binding at a time to allow the hens access to the next section.  They can also be hung in our  horse haynets.
 
The bales measure approximately:  55cm Long x 30cm x 30cm
 
Lucerne bales are recommended as a preventative to limit the occurrence of pecking problems, contribute to the enrichment of the environment, and bring extra fibre into the diet of laying hens so are great for hens during lockdown to keep them busy.
