Cochins are stunning gentle giants and reasonable layers of a pale coloured egg.
 
They make great pets as they are usually friendly and docile.  As they are a heavier bird with short wings in comparison to their body, they don't fly and can be kept in with low fences.
 
They are slow to mature and make excellent broody hens and mothers.
